Donald Trump has responded after Iran launched a series of missile attacks against US airbases in the Middle East. Targets in Qatar, Bahrain and Iraq were fired at on Monday in response to America’s strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend. The US president said: “The sites that we hit in Iran were totally destroyed, and everyone knows it. Only the fake news would say anything different in order to try and demean, as much as possible – and even they say they were ‘pretty well destroyed!’

It never ends with the sleazebags in the media, and that’s why their ratings are at an ALL-TIME LOW — ZERO CREDIBILITY!”
Qatar closed its airspace and grounded flights on Monday, moments before videos on social media showed missiles being intercepted on their way to the US Al Udeid military base in Doha.
No casualties were reported. Qatar has now said it reserves the right to respond directly and in accordance with international law.
“We are assured that Qatari air defences thwarted the attack and successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles,” said the Qatari statement.
The Ministry of Defence added: “Thanks to God, the vigilance of the armed forces, and the precautionary measures taken, the incident did not result in any deaths or injuries.”
Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on the social media platform X: “We neither initiated the war, nor are seeking it. But we will not leave invasion to the great Iran without answer.”
The Al Udeid airbase, the largest US military installation in the Middle East, is in Qatar, where around 8,000 American personnel are based, according to the State Department.
The No 83 Expeditionary Air Group, part of the Royal Air Force, is headquartered at Al Udeid. It leads UK air operations in the region.
The US is believed to have around 40,000 troops in total in the Middle East.
The country has bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Turkey, Cyprus and the UAE, as well as in Qatar and Iraq – where there were 2,500 US troops as of late last year, CNN reports.
There are also other sites where the US has a military presence.
